Community Liaison - International Outreach


Gladys Pineda, an advocate for a compassionate and inclusive world. Known for international community outreach, event production, cross-cultural training, diversity workshops and for being an advocate for immigrants.

Gladys Pineda, a Colombia native who came to Tennessee nearly two decades ago, has worked to make Chattanooga a more international city and aid foreigners and new immigrants who have come to Chattanooga in recent years. As director of international community outreach at Chattanooga State Community College, Pineda developed a local Latino Festival as well as a network called “Cultural Ambassadors and International Achievers” and a Bridges to Success training initiative. She also led the efforts of Culture Fest for the last 9 years in a partnership with the Chattanooga Market to celebrate multicultural diversity in the city. Pineda has been active in creating a number of Latino organizations in East Tennessee. When she was working for Tennova and its corporate predecessors in Knoxville, Pineda worked with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of East Tennessee, the Latino Task Force and Centro de Hispano de East Tennessee. As a Chamber of Commerce volunteer in Knoxville, she worked on a task force to help recruit Volkswagen to the state.

Pineda worked for the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. At the Chamber, she developed the International Business Council, the International Ambassadors Program and other diversity initiatives.
